ABOUT

With a background in music, I have always been passionate about creativity. I was raised in Weston, Florida where I attended Cypress Bay High School and was highly active in the music program as well as the lacrosse team. Running around from rehearsals to practices and studying in between, being busy is my specialty. My internship at Onboard Media, featured in my blog, put my time management and adaptation skills to the test. I interned in three departments, editorial, TV production, and port shopping, and picked up a multitude of digital media skills as well as a well rounded knowledge of the cruise industry. I had an article published in the most recent edition of Fun Ashore magazine on the Olympians of the Carribbean. I also wrote all of the "Quick Facts" about the ports of call featured in the magazine.

In the spring semester of 2013, I interned for Travel Research Online (TRO) as an editorial intern. My responsibilities included research, writing, editing, and attending the monthly meetings we had. We were assigned a location, any on the planet that tourists may find an interest in, and were to research the style of other travel destination guides and facts on the location. After hours of rigorous research, translating foreign guides into English, and converting international currency, I wrote destination guides on Alexandria, Egypt, Aspen, Colorado, and Bali. It was a great experience learning how to combine my travel industry knowledge from my Onboard Media internship with my editorial skills and passion.

This past summer, I was living in Washington, D.C. while I interned for the world's #1 nonfiction media outlet, Discovery Communications. It reaches over 200 billion cumulative subscribers in over 220 countries and territories. Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and TLC are the most well-known channels they own, but they also have acquired many smaller networks that are viciously growing, such as OWN, Velocity, and many more. Out of the 13,968 applicants nationwide, I was selected as one of the 150 interns, and the only one to be the digital media intern for TLC.com. Out of all the skills I gained during my summer internship, I feel that my working knowledge of how a huge corporation like Discovery Communications functions and communicates.

My responsibilities included creating, building, publishing, and writing captions for new and relevant photo galleries. I made one photo gallery titled "Stacy's Summer Styles" that was one of the most popular sites of the summer! The link can be found in my "On Interning" blog. After 3 days, it received 90,000 views, being #1 on the What Not to Wear site, #2 across all of TLC.com, and later #10 across TLC.com for the week! It felt very rewarding to see my hardwork pay off. I also helped with the Honey Boo Boo app, wedding photo galleries, video playlists, and much more. In addition to my intern responsibilites at TLC.com, the Campus Connect program divided the interns into 10 groups, where we were assigned a real issue the company was facing. After 8 weeks of collaboration and brainstorming, we took advantage of the bountiful resources around us and came up with a viable solution.  The assigned topic we had was to come up with a way to bring millenials into the main demographic of Discovery's content. Our solution: augmented reality! Our video can be found on my Samples of Work page.

As I am finishing up my senior year, I am completing my Communications and English degree while planning for my future. I hope to take these skills I have gained and my passion for working with others, serving my community, being in a fast-paced environment, and being bilingual to a position where I can benefit a company and make a difference.
